Can we detect any gear that looks like it might be magical?

Rolled a 6 vs. Thaumatology 14. Success by 8.

oh, that's a good thing to check for... I was actually trying to figure out if this guy is a mage. should I roll a second time? ... 3, critical success!

I do not think Thaumatology is the right skill to figure out if a person is a mage, I think you need a spell for that.

That being said, the sitting man is not a mage. I'm throwing you a bone for that critical success.

I mean, I assume if you look at Telrith you can tell he's holding a power item and has vials of paut at his belt, but I suppose that's different than "Being a mage".

So shall we capture this guy or kill him, and do we want to go melee or ranged? Something about this situation makes me nervous. I almost would prefer to disturb him and then have a normal fight.
