Which GURPS Basic Set Book to Get First?
I have just recently gotten into GURPS and was wanting to get the Basic Set. However, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on RPG's and, as the set is somewhat expensive, I made plans to buy one book, continue my campaign using it in combination with GURPS Lite, and then buy the other book a month or so later when I have the money. My question is, which should I buy first? Which is most important for running a campaign? Thanks in advance.

Re: Which GURPS Basic Set Book to Get First?
GURPS Characters, without question.
Some of GURPS Campaigns will be useless without Characters and Lite gives you enough of the combat rules and other mechanics. However Characters greatly expands what you and your players can build. Also check out my links below. My website is aimed at people like you with some ideas on what books you should get for whatever you want. And the GURPS Videos link include some sample combat and how to build characters as well. Mooks site at the Game Geekery is also a good newbie site.

Re: Which GURPS Basic Set Book to Get First?
I'd agree, start with Characters. With its Combat Lite appendix, it is usable on its own without Campaigns as the next step after GURPS Lite.
