Would an aura of darkness just be a special effect of Obscure 10?

This is an idea I came up with in a discussion with a player. I'm trying to represent an aura of darkness, equivalent to the Darkness spell. No light can pass through, to the point that creatures vulnerable to sunlight would be safe inside. My gut says this would just be Obscure (Vision) 10 with a special effect of being darkness, but I'm not sure. What are your thoughts?

Yes. That's one of the most common uses for Obscure.

Yep.
Obscure blocks the targeted sense, it could be darkness, fog, or even blinding light.
