Undead monsters in original Munchkin
I've noticed that most of the other Munchkin sets (if not all) have certain monsters that can be dogpiled into a combat if one of their kind is in the battle. In Booty they are Sharks, in Fu it's Hong Kong, in Bites! it's Bats, etc.
I was wondering about the Undead monsters in the original Munchkin game. Do they work the same way? Based on reading the rules I don't see anything in there that allows for this, but it just seems strange that most/all of the follow-on games have this concept and the original does not. As far as I can tell, the Undead monsters just have some items (like the Ghoul Lash) and the Cleric's abilities that interact with them. |

Re: Undead monsters in original Munchkin
Undead do not gang up. The trait exists to combine with other cards (primarily Cleric). There are no actual rules associated with the Undead trait. In fact, some other sets explicitly call out that Undead has no rules, and the trait only exists to combine with other cards in other sets. Example: Star Munchkin has the Space Vampire.
That being said, about half sets do NOT have a dogpile rule. Munchkin: No* Star: No Fu: Hong Kong Bites: Bats Super: No Impossible: ...in Black Cthulhu: -goth (one) Good Bad: No Booty: Sharks No dogpiles in Munchkin, Star, Super or Good Bad. Impossible has the dogpile rule right on the"...in Black" cards. All other sets have them in the rulebook. Cthulhu only allows a single -goth to be added to a fight for free (starting from current player and going left.) Others allow you to throw in as many as you want. Fu allows you to throw in not only Hong Kong monsters, but Hong Kong ITEMS as well. *The exception to Munchkin is the Santas, which can dogpile. However, that was added by a specific expansion, and is not a core rule.

Re: Undead monsters in original Munchkin
Now there's an interesting thought. Since you play zombies in Munchkin Zombies, and blending might introduce zombie monsters.... hmmm....

Re: Undead monsters in original Munchkin
The rules for the Cheat With Both Hands expansion are currently available as a PDF, and contain a section on Set-Specific Rules (including Zombies.) There's no need for Andrew to be coy, we can see for ourselves that this Undead dogpiling is in there.

Andrew is frequently coy because he thinks it is funny and it amuses him greatly. We like to let him have his fun, even if it seems pointless.

Re: Undead monsters in original Munchkin
I heartily approve.
Gang-monsters are one of the best innovations in the game, hands down.
