Oooooh Robert! I'm so excited I can scarcely hold on to my boomerang. Congratulations on having an official adventure published for TFT Legacy. I can't wait to try it out :)

  • Tiki and Polynesian Culture
  • Artists such as El Gato Gomez and Mark “Topes” Thompson
  • Exotica music by Martin Denny, Les Baxter and others (GREAT to play in the background while playing this, btw!)
  • The Toho films Godzilla vs. Megalon and Atragon. Seriously!
  • The “Lost World” and “Subterranean” subgenres of old pulp fiction
  • The original In Search of... television series of the 70s

There's one more, but I'll keep it secret for now ;) I'm working on a "Designer's Notes" article that will delve into the awesome mysteries of writing a TFT adventure!
I'm feeling Brady Bunch Season 4.

Man, talk about sandboxy! Now I must don my Magnum P.I. shirt, fix myself a coconut shell Painkiller (with little umbrella) and write up character sheets for Greg, Bobby, Peter, Marsha, Jan, and Cindy. Maybe I'll throw in Alice as a magick user priestess.

And it's a bit off-topic, but thank you for inspiring me to investigate exotica music; that's all I've been listening to for the last two days! I agree, Les Baxter, et. al. are the perfect accompaniment to your wonderful adventure. Now you have my mind consumed by visions of a Toho/kaiju adventure, but I'm not even sure if it's possible.

We've got a 28 foot tall (or at least long) fire breathing lizard. What else do you need?

You will certainly find a little nod or two towards my passion for Toho in Katiki-Mu. If there were ever a sequel to this Mu adventure, I will be taking it even further. Regardless, I hope I left enough hooks in there to inspire and let you and others bring that to life. I absolutely think it can be done, and they key might be to scale the kaiju back down to a size where they don’t have to compete with skyscrapers. More GMK or Daimajin than Shin-Goji!

And I’m thrilled you’re getting a kick out of exotica! It’s a genre that really takes me away.

Also the original King Kong 1933 soundtrack, or any of those from old Ray Harryhausen films. :)
