Ostary’s Tactics - DFRPG blog
As an extension of Stripe’s Gorefest Dungeon campaign, I started a (somewhat) in-character blog offering advice to fellow DFRPG adventurers.
The blog assumes straight-up RAW with no house rules, so as to maximize applicability, and should see weekly updates on Wednesday until Stripe puts the campaign on hiatus once the weather stops making game prep look more fun than horseback riding. archonshiva.com/blog/df I’ve got weekly articles lined up until late February, but feel free to suggest topics! |

Re: Ostary’s Tactics - DFRPG blog
GURPSDay’s script still fails to grab the new blog, so here’s a quick overview of what’s been on:
Off-Template Skills (Exceptional Training, DFE93) Knight: Instant Combat Training Quick Tactics: Targeting Priorities Logistics: Pre-Game Rolls (the in-town stuff on DFE13+) Spellcasters: Instant Learning from Scrolls (Next up) Combat: Basic Damage Types (Feb 7)

Re: Ostary’s Tactics - DFRPG blog
By the way, kudos for figuring out why this is actually fairly awesome. When anybody else finds Sword-Chuks of Power, they kind of regret not learning Flail, and wonder if they can pay for training back in town. The knight can just drop however many points seem worthwhile into the skill and mutter, "It's been five years since I've seen one of these." Then they remember their old training and get down to slaying monsters.
And yes, it's basically a nod to certain other games' assumption that meat-and-potatoes fighters can use all weapons, where everybody else has a shorter list.

Re: Ostary’s Tactics - DFRPG blog
This finally seems to work reliably on GURPSDay, if only on the second pass, but here’s what had posted recently:
Combat: Basic Damage Types Scout: Arrow Types Combat: Getting Killed Instantly Combat: Advanced Damage Types Roadblocks: Diffuse Targets (plus an Addendum) Gear: Overdrawn Crossbows and Bows (upcoming, Mar 14)
