Default GURPS DF Monster Inspiration: Keeper of the Written Word

The trees are howling in a wind that blasts lesser branches into the gravel road before you. The rain is cold enough feel through your cloaks, armor and clothes. The light from your lantern shines weakly into the mist of precipitation that obscures all but the most basic of silhouettes. You hear a bell go off, like a church bell. Its deep hum reflects off the distant hills in reply.

Arriving to the noise, you see the structure from where the bell tolled. It's a large, two-story building in reasonable repair. It has no lights upon it, but you can see the movement of candlelight inside. Trying the door, you find it open. Your shoes soak the grand rug just inside the doorway--it's made of some unnatural, silvery material.

"Hello?" you call, "Hello!?"

A hooded figure behind a desk turns its head, roused from its studies. In one hand is a quill. Its other arm raises its thin, fabric-covered hand, putting its finger to the "lips" of its wooden-masked head. "Shh. No shouting in the library."

Just wanted to throw this idea around and see what people made of it. What are the Keepers? Living? Undead? Constructs? Angels or Fiends?

Avatar of Magic. Normally Magic doesn't take on a physical form like this, but something went wrong. Very Wrong. And it just needs a little help getting things back to normal...

Once resolved the tower and everything in it will disappear in the blink of an eye while no one is looking. The only trace being that any magic items that have charges (including Power Items) are fully recharged. Of course until then the area is swept up in a Twisted Mana Zone (Thaumatology 60).

That's either Elder Thing or Elemental then I'd think.

Can't really be an Elder Thing if if it was just created now can it... ;)

But yeah, some form of "Thing" or Elemental of Magic would be apropos.
