Castlevania in TFT
Hi all,
I値l be volunteering at a gaming con this October where I値l be running at least one RPG session and doing some video-game themed seminars, including one on Castlevania games. Since I知 in that headspace already, I知 thinking about running a Fantasy Trip scenario set in that universe. Some thoughts I致e had so far: - a Whip does 1d-1 damage in TFT, which seems realistic. The Vampire Killer whip is supposed to be magical, so I値l likely increase its damage while keeping 1d-1 for any mundane whips encountered. - I was inspired by the side profile of the character token art to use the hex map to simulate the viewpoint of 8-bit video games rather than an overhead view. Characters can move left-right and jump diagonally to avoid hazards and ascend platforms. - Like TFT, CV doesn稚 tend to feature healing magic, but does have consumable items that can restore health. This seems well-suited to the pacing of a convention one-shot. Any ideas would be much appreciated! |

Re: Castlevania in TFT
Are you making counters for it?

Re: Castlevania in TFT
I suppose I could use some of the 8-bit pixel art for custom counters...

Re: Castlevania in TFT
Castlevania sounds like a great setting for whip-heavy action! Whips are probably the most peculiar of all the TFT peculiar weapons, esp as they can emulate aspects of bolas, lassos, as well as their own unique properties.
Some suggestions for some powerful magic whips: - convert damage to health - allow targeting of adjacent opponents, eg min range = 1 - a super-extending whip, eg range 8 - head-seeking whip that attacks head and neck without DX penalty - tractor-whip that pulls opponent closer |

Re: Castlevania in TFT
Since you are looking at a specific setting you include 'rare' whips that do all kinds of things. RobW listed several nifty ideas and if you combine that with tricks that become available with Whip Expertise and Whip Mastery you could easily make a whip a really fun and effective tool/weapon.
Do not forget the realistically silly but thematically fun whip swinging.
