When to play cards
So I'm not sure if I have been playing this wrong the whole time or what?
I just read MM post that Quote:
Quote:
Is this wrong? Also if you helping someone in combat and for whatever reason are drawing a treasure during that combat (cursing someone and you are a voodoo zombie) could you play that card immediately? Since the rule, if anything, is just saying it can't be played on your turn during combat and it isn't your turn.

Re: When to play cards
Yeah, it was wrong. The except during combat clause covers both play timings.
Hence you can't play cards you receive in the middle of the fight if you are helping. A Voodoo Zombie could curse someone during a combat before agreeing to help, put the received Item (assuming it is one) in play and then start helping, though.

Re: When to play cards
Once you are in a combat, you may not play a permanent Item or Item-like card, even one you have just drawn, unless you have an ability that explicitly allows you to do so. Other cards, such as GUALs or one-shot Items, can be played during combat in any case, so no special rule is needed.

Re: When to play cards
I don't know if things were changed for clarification but there has always been a general rule that you can not play items during combat. Some people may have thought that if you can play items when you get them then they could play during combat which is not correct. So essentially just a reminder of the other rule.
