(Resolving this in my story by having the third grandson being a bit of a jerk who goes directly from title to first name basis with the woman he jumps in to claim as his fiancee. Having family with the big titles means he's entitled to claim whatever serf he favors, especially as she's an orphan born in his grandfather's city, right? Now if only the goblin sorceress had a hungry octopus to feed her love pentagram to....)
