Default Setting generating game

We've played this before and gotten some good settings. I'd like to try the game again. Our goal is to make a good setting.

Rules:
  • You must answer the last question and post your question in the same post. Please don't answer quickly with just an answer and then edit a question in.
  • Answers should be limited to the question, though they may expand upon details. The best questions prompt for details. If asked about the personality of the head of state, mentioning the crown Prince, queen mother, and despicable minister is appropriate. Detailing the ministers evil plans is not.
  • Questions should not assume any new information, and answers should feel free to contradict any limits imposed. If asked "what fantastic creatures exist? " without the creatures being mentioned previously, a valid (and appropriate answer) is " no new creatures exist, but gorillas have mythological status : they are not believed to exist, but appear frequently in stories. "
  • Be courteous and have fun.

The first question:

What is the most notable terrain (including things like 'deep space', 'the road', or 'urban') in the setting?

The most notable terrain is "cities built on the tops of giant trees." The big cities have platforms that link the trees, smaller cities have bridges, but there is also rope swinging for out of the way communities, or sometimes just for speed.

Question: What is on the surface?

Fun :) The ruins of civilization and millions of walking, groaning, man eating, mindless corpses.

Question: What do the tree dwelling survivors eat?

Mostly fruits, nuts, and wolf-sized squirrels. However, they need to consume at least one oz of 'zombie' (the corpses below) brain each day or they are in danger of becoming victims of the zombie plague themselves.

Question: How do they get the brains they need?

Point of order: zombie mechanism not established.

They kill and butcher the zombies at a distance, using ropes, Long tools and elaborate puppet devices. They bring up only the minimum amount of material.

What powers the zombies? A plague? A curse? Nanobots? Is it unknown?

Sorcery. Demons from the bowels of the underworld will try to infect any formerly-sapient corpses they can find, but the body needs a certain amount of intactness to be operated.

What protects the living from the demons' possession?

The Zombie plague functions like a form of radiation sickness (B436). Living high above the surface results in 1 "rad" of exposure daily...but the one oz of zombie brain is a treatment that will negate that 1 rad of exposure. Being on the surface results in 2 rads of exposure daily...and only 1 rad of exposure can be cancelled by eating the zombie brain...so long term living on the surface is going to result in zombification. Short term surface activity will push a person towards zombification. This is why the hunters try to hunt at a distance with ropes, long tools, puppet devices--not so much to avoid zombies (though that too) but to avoid surface zombie radiation.

Unfortunatley, sometimes hunter-gatherer parties have to descend to the surface for the good of the community to gather brains if zombies are not in the vicinity...putting themselves at risk.

If you look at the Radiation Effects Table on B436, all the effects are the same...but that any death turns the person into a zombie.

Where did this zombie radiation come from? It is unclear, but everyone knows that it is related to whatever caused the downfall of the old civilization, besides the zombification, this mysterious radiation has also caused some things to grow large...hence the giant trees and the wolf-sized squirrels.

Question: What sort of government do these communities have?

in this case? Answer 2 kind of answers the first question. Change radiation to radiation - like sorcerous effect and we're all good. Use the second question cause the first Is answered.

In general, first come first serve, but combining answers is valid.

Each year each city chooses its Boss by having a hand-to-hand fighting competition. The nominees meet to fight in the ruins of ancient spacecraft near the base of their tree homes. The winner takes charge of the civic administration and presides over the nomination committee who select next year's competitors.

Question:

What other types of animals are there in addition to the wolf-sized squirrels?
