Agreed though that just means you need a D Day scheduled for release and the material needs to start coming out x days before that.

I don't propose to need to know D or x, just hope that they both get set and wish we we close enough to D-x.

It's not that unusual. I'm going to have to be deliberately vague here, due to insider knowledge, so bear with me.

Another company I know is having a similar issue with a major sourcebook of their own. It's not really a license, but it is the culmination of at least fifteen real-world years of story. However, during its development, the market changed. So now the book doesn't quite fit with the company's current product focus. It could be released, and soon (I am led to believe that the book is done), but it would be jarring to the customer base. They know this, because earlier in the year they released a similar book whose sales...I won't say they tanked, but they were substantially lower than expected.

I'm not saying Discworld 2e is in the same situation by any means, just that sometimes outside forces do conspire to delay a release. Which sucks for everyone involved, but it's better to heed the warnings than to slam something out before the market is ready. That's the old school way.

I was actually referencing something posted by SJG at one time.
Flying Buffalo (Tunnels and Trolls fame) was formed in 1970 wheras SJG was 1980.

I find SJGames' responsiveness on the GURPS forums to be laudable. Just one man's opinion; and I have no experience with other game sites' forums.

Of the 2 GURPS hardbacks mentioned, wasn't the "secret" one announced this year as Mars Attacks?

I believe PK confirmed that.

GURPS has a good presence on forums and on Reddit. Positive discussion threads and comments appear regularly, which I find surprising because the game isn't "hippy" or new and at least used to have a negative reputation.

Considering what others are saying about meeting gamers in shops and cons, I think this would be a good time to make a marketing push. Having the Basic Set in print would be the first step, regular releases the second one. Better exploration of digital platforms would come next, but clearly that's not going to happen.

I do think that GURPS is more important than Munchkin in terms of Steve's legacy, and should be handled as such.
