I've always thought that the "GURPS" in the stretched hexagon was its own logo.

Is it true there was a trademark filed for a logo in 1986 as this indicates? https://www.logosdatabase.com/logo/gurps_73597527

Yes, which is why we get to use the ® symbol on our GURPS books.

I like it. Clean and simple.

Photoshop? What's there to photoshop... oh, the endless plain of snow into the endless void. Right, good catch.

Dice in a design are indeed a cliche. And then there's my thought of "Ooh, it should have a hex". The same thought that HERO System had... decades ago.

Oh well. Such are the results of "Hey, fun thread. <five minutes later> Here's my kewl pic."

Is it orange for everyone? I always imagined that everyone else is enjoying lovely custom hues, with me as the lone schmuck who can't find the color settings...

Is it orange? I've allows thought it was "burn out your retinas yellow" or "lovely day in Hell goldenrod".

Not to derail too hard, but the “colour settings” are available via the browser extension Stylus and loading a custom stylesheet. This forum's own Bruno made a very nice desaturated blue theme.

Back on topic, though — dice logos may be cliched, but they do exist for a reason; you can instantly recognise them as “this is (role-playing) game related.” It also definitely should involve the pyramid logo that serves the rest of SJG, if only so legal fine print can invoke the term “The All-Seeing Dice™.”

I think the insistence on hexagons might be taking it too far; I haven't played GURPS with a battlemat in years, frankly (just freehanding it with a ruler is much easier), so I don't think hexes when I think GURPS.

I kinda like t-bone's mock-up of Doug's idea, but maybe... three pyramids, each with an obviously-recognisable d6 bearing the all-seeing eye, in the place the eye would normally be? That gives you flexibility in usage; you can have a single one when you need a small logo, as for a site favicon; you can use all three as a larger logo, and all-three plus the traditional GURPS logotype for, e.g., book covers.

(Or honestly, if the Powers That Be think this idea has merit, just hand the quest over to Alex Fernandez who did such a fantastic job with the Illuminati coins...)

Nah, this is a nice muted yellow... compared to the yellow background of the chat where I was first a moderator.

Mustard yellow, a dull gold, and a mid brown is what I see as the main colours.
