Default What products for a semi?

This past weekend was a convention, and talking to someone who hasn't played since the 80s about what was in print, various changes over the editions, etc, the subject wandered to articulated trucks...wherein I had the best bad idea since the idea to design and build a complete 3D arena using only rusty cabinet-door-making woodworking skills and $150-each 'home handyman' grade machinery.

Are Deluxe and Uncle All's Catalog from [fnord] sufficient to build a semi for a "players on one team" scenario, or are there other PDFs I should also be looking at?

The end goal is to end up building a juggernaut of a thing (which will be nicknamed 'Ogre', because I'm a cheeky little [fnord] like that) that will pose a very real threat to, but ultimately be able to be taken down by, a small pack (4-6) of Division 20 or Division 25 cars working together.

Pretty-much, yes -- in fact, provided one doesn't go totally berserk with the options, one can build a fairly devastating rig for the $150K which appears to be top-end of your price scale (6x Div. 25); while the duelcars, if properly designed, will eventually be able to pound the rig to death (hint: This battle is going to feature *a lot* of HESH- and HEAT-loaded RRs, in both directions >:) ).

Good to know, thank you much!

I'm not looking to dominate the tournament circuit or anything, just duct-tape together enough smoke and mirrors to keep a few "played once or twice, or maybe not in 20 years" convention-goers glued to their seats for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, and get a few "I'm coming back to this convention because I want to play that again" ticket sales for the following year.

Page 81 of the Car Wars Compendium, 2nd Edition, has the big rig rules. In fact 2e has pretty much everything you need.

Don't forget all the tactical stuff for rigs that have been noted in these fora.

Big rigs can be disappointing if you forget all the things that make them special.

Don't sell your juggernaut short ;)

So be sure to use the fora to make it something to fawna for?

(Sorry, I'll see myself out)

On a more serious note...not selling it short is why it might not debut until 2020, that gives me time to get friends together than blow it up a bunch of times before it ever sees a convention floor.

Here's a design I've used for convoy-escort; it's based off the _Hellfire_ semi-trailer from _VG2_:

40' Van; Std. Kingpin; 12x Plasticore tire; 6x Gunner; 2x 4-sp Turret [1 ea. TF, TB]; 14x RR [HEAT or HESH ammo] [2 ea.: TF Tu.; TB Tu.; LF; RF; LB; RB; B]; 3x MD [1 ea. LB, RB, B]; 3x SS [1 ea. LB, RB, B]. 20x Ext. Mag. [14x RR: HEAT or HESH ammo, 1 ea. RR; 3x MD: Napalm Ammo, 1 ea. MD; 3x SS, 1 ea. SS]; 20x Mag. Switch [1 ea. RR, MD, and SS]; IFE; 3x Laser Battery; 3x Sleeping Area; Galley; Radar; Radar Detector; Radar Jammer; 12x Link [1 ea.: RR pair TF, TB, LF, RF, LB, RB, B; MD-SS pair LB, RB, B; all MDs; all MDs and SSs] Laser-Reflective Metal/Fireproof Plastic Armor: F, LF, RF, LB, RB, B, TF, TB: 12/40; UF, UB: 0/40, 6x 10-pt FPWG [2 F, 4 B]; 6x 10-pt Fireproof Wheelhubs [2 F, 4 B]. 32295 lbs.; $149,610

Strap that onto a _Wolverine_, _Maul_, _Bruiser_, or _Magnum_ tractor, and watch your players have nine kinds of heart attacks.... >:)

Rarely ever came across a big rig, but everyone kept telling me how long games last with them. Took out all kinds of vehicles with a bus though.

That Rig is great & good value to . Swap one of the Laser Batteries for a Small Cycle Power Plant perhaps ? You lose 50 PUs but Improved Fire Extinguisher will be able to run if Trailer & Tractor get separated or Tractor's PP gets destroyed or disabled .

Big rigs are like attacking the Death Star - go for the 5th wheel. For this reason it's very important for trailers to have powerful weapons RF and LF - the HFT is my favorite :)
