Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
I have the 3rd edition unpunched. Is there a way to post pics on this thread?

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
The little paperclip in the post toolbar is a dropdown box with a number of options for posting an image: jpg, png, pdf, etc.

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
Drew,
Are you sure posting an image of the counter sheet is ok to do here? That sounds very much like something the powers that be would not want to see online.

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
Images of previous edition's counter sheets are posted elsewhere on the web, but it is a fair question and I will attempt to validate my assumption.
Marlinus64 - Please refrain from posting any images of the uncut sheet until you hear back from me. Thanks! D.

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
This is something I'd like to see: the evolution of Ogre from inception to the current edition.
One thing I have not seen is the full 1st edition map with the original crater and ridge layouts. I know the 1st edition map was slightly longer and some of the crater layouts were different. I've seen partial scans of the 1st edition map, but never the full 1st edition map. Is that something can be posted? |

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
I will hold off on posting the images until I hear an official response. I assumed since this is the Steve Jackson website it was ok to post them. I do see where the concern lies, however.

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
With apologies to all involved, I'm going to respectfully ask that posting of any substantial amount of the game, be it maps, countersheets, or rules, not occur on our website. I appreciate the well-intentioned ideas and I personally support the enthusiasm, but this is a slippery slope that I feel is best that none of us step out upon. I hope everyone understands this position and that it does not diminish anyone's verve for the game.
There are some histories of the game already out there, and your interest is inspiring me to look at this concept deeper. But for now, what exists is what there is. Long live Ogre! Drew

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
That listing on BGG gives one all they need to know for the proper counter mix as published. Publishing images just makes piracy that much easier -- and FWIW, SJG has the "Classic Counters" on W23 as a FREE digital file.

Re: Ogre 3rd Edition counters
Totally understand so no posting of anything.
Just from a cursory analysis of the maps scans I do see out there and from reading the history. the 1st edition map was 2 columns wider and 3 hexes longer, and some craters and ridges were slightly repositioned. I'm curious why the map was reduced for the 2nd edition. Did playtesting reveal that one side had more of an advantage with a larger surface area? |
