As I type this, an ad for the Ogre video game is cycling though two entirely different images. This doesn't annoy me at all. I wonder what the difference between the this and blinking is?

It might possibly be the delay between the change of images. With a slow cycle, one has time to make sense of each frame. The "blinking" ad didn't give me that amount of time.
