And _Star Castle_ was one of the few arcade games I was ever Good at. :)
So I stumbled across Triplanetary a couple of hours ago, and after some reading, Triplanetary looks very much like a game I would enjoy, a lot.

It turns out SJG bought the rights to Triplanetary, evidently a couple of weeks before the Secret Service raid.

Redevelopment plans got shelved in favor of remaining in business.

I've followed up on my interest by finding a copy of Star Fist (on order now).

But I *really* like the name "Triplanetary." *Much* better branding potential in my opinion.

How many reading here have played either of these games?

Moved out of the Ogre forum since it no longer has any Ogre content.

I've played the 2nd GDW edition several times. I don't think it'll ever hit the table again.

Steve had plans for big convention games of "Tripe." Like silk-screening hexes on a whiteboard and plotting out the whole solar system and having big team tournaments.

Did you find the Triplanetary variant materials on the board? I wrote a few of the articles in the last weeks of a job, when I had nothing to do at work.

Winchell Chung has a bunch of art material related to the game. CGI renderings of the ships, for example.

Tripe... something unsettling about that nickname :p ;)

Looking at the prices on ebay quells my impulse to pick up an old copy. I sure would like to see the game reprinted.

I think it could definitely use an update in board game presentation and technology. Wet-erase pens and vinyl is way better than grease pencil and acetate.

What, it can't be that HOLY CRAP.

Yeah, this needs a reprint. I get that the prices are due to rarity and age, but whoa. Looks hella neat, too.

What's wrong with Three Worldish? Too Germanic?

You're missing what he said it was better than: "Star Fist." (OGRE IN SPAAAACE)

I just recently discovered Triplanetary. It's a great game, yet it's simple enough that a child can learn it in 15 minutes.

Right now, I'm getting by with a laminated photocopy of the map and felt markers, but if a decent reprint ever came out I would be interested!
