Arrows & Weakness/Vulnerability/Revulsion to Wood.
Hi there. This is a quick question when it comes to creatures who suffer negative consequences from exposure to wood, and are attacked with spears or arrows or similar weapons which amount to "wood with a metal head".
How much HP damage would you suggest for an arrow before the wound is deep enough to count as a "wood injection" affecting the creature? I'm leaning towards HP/4 as a wild guess, but what would be your opinions? For larger-headed weapons like spears or polearms, I'd assume it would need to be well into the overpenetration range. |

There is a huge variety in blade length of spears. Some have short spikes and others like the spontoon have enormous "that ain't gonna go all the way through a guy" blade tips.
Admittedly, the spontoon is a shortened not that great pike, from what I've read. (I'm just a layman, so don't take my views as heavily researched.) But it shows just how far one could go in that direction.

I'd also imagine from a meta-gaming aspect, that if arrows and other part wooden weapons are not uncommon dangers, that players and GMs would have decided pre-game whether most injuries would count or not.
It seems like that should have a strong effect on how much such vulnerabilities cost.

My thought is tough skin + protective clothing would be very difficult for wooden-tipped arrows to penetrate (0.5 armour divisor), so metal arrowheads would still be needed to penetrate the DR. |
