Maybe you could require a ST roll for each combatant that is an active grappler.
I'm not sure how to adjudicate a penalty to ST in proportion to the damage of the knockback. Also, you could provide for knocking back the entire grapple using the combatants combined ST-2 vs. the amount of knockback damage. (Still require the ST roll to keep the grapple engaged.) For simplicity's sake:
Whether knockback is large enough to send both parties flying is getting too complex for this rules set.
