Default How dead will DF characters be if I send MH monsters against them

In terms of combat effectiveness, there are two major differences between MH and DF:

1) the power level - Monster Hunters are 150 points better
2) the Tech level - TL8 means a lot more efficiency in the fine art of rendering things dead

Are there any guidelines to how many DF characters equate to one Monster Hunter character? Approximately, of course.

I generally rate 1 DF character to be about 1/2 to 2/3 a MH character. I put 4 somewhat experienced DF characters against 3 MH Mummies and it was a reasonably challenging encounter.

DF characters tend to be more optimized to combat than MH characters, I think, so the point and equipment difference isn't as impressive as you'd think.

I don't have any MH books so can't do it myself, but you can use It's a Threat! (Pyramid #3/77) to get an idea of how much of a, well, threat each MH monster is (via it's Combat Effectiveness Rating), then compare that to the CER of the characters to get an idea.

Actually each monster in MH3 gives how many champions to face it. And MH4 PCs are 200 points and given as being 1/2 (or less) of the champions vs monsters formula.

So just use the MH3 formula basically halved.

Done.

Probabl 3/4 since DF characters are

1)250, not 200 points and
2)More or less, all combatants - the ones that aren't are more able to support in combat.

Notable: Monster Hunters monsters tend to be fortified against piercing damage specifically to make sure guns aren't the go-to solution. Not so much against other things, although impaling tends to suffer as a byproduct. Unliving and Homogenous monsters are a staple of fantasy and a DF party shouldn't be stymied by them.

Wielding axes and swords and magic against monsters instead of AK-74s[1] is expected in MH, and where that kind of force isn't appropriate, MH PCs would have to resort to lateral thinking, which is a DF staple.[2]

The demons, in particular, seem to feel quite comfortable in a DF environment.

[1] unless you're that one PC whos "thing" is dual wielding AK-74s

[2] Welp. My mapping suggests there's a hidden room behind this wall but we can't find a secret door. THOG! Get the Maul out and demolish it![3]

[3] Assuming the druid doesn't just cast Shape Earth/Stone and remove the wall entirely.
