TFT Adventures!
My TFT Adventures box just rolled in, and it is all looking superb. I held off playing these as the pdfs came out because I'm a hard-copy kind of guy and I knew I'd enjoy it all much more using the proper markers, MH tiles, etc. The adventures are a wonderful mix of curious, goofy and deadly tricks and traps and foes. Very well done.
One thing I appreciate about TFT is that the overall range of character firepower is relatively narrow (as compared to other popular games). I usually think of this as a bonus because it keeps all sorts of encounters interesting (i.e., risky) throughout a long campaign. Another benefit that comes out in this set of adventures is that a well designed adventure can offer interesting challenges to pretty much anyone, so they don't have to be split up into 'niche' categories (this one just for high level PC's, that just for low, etc.) On a cautionary note, the new fighter cards that came with the book include 3 (!) with obvious stat errors: Arnaud's armor should stop 5, not 4 hits and should reduce his DX to 11, not 13. Octavia lacks the ST score to fight without penalty with a 2 handed sword. Theodore should suffer from a -1 DX penalty from his cloth armor Last edited by larsdangly; 09-11-2019 at 08:31 PM. Re: TFT Adventures!
That's an odd way of saying "I appreciate how hard Steve and his team work on these projects with limited time and resources, and I'm posting errata as I find them so the next printing will be better."

On the one hand, it is frustrating. BUT... I also understand. When do we think a next printing would occur? Would be happy to pay for one :p Will be interesting to see how aggressive re-design gets versus simple errata edits, when the time comes... Thanks guys! --glenn |

Re: TFT Adventures!
I got my box-in-a-box yesterday.
The primary and secondary packaging both took a clear hit from shipping, but the inner material was undamaged. I do suspect, though, that having the inner box - well protected or no - floating in a much larger out package is asking for trouble in the long run. Even so: I got my stuff. Hardback copy of adventures, some cards, and two folders (which took me a while to figure out what they were). My daughters both remarked "is that guy stealing the other guy's FACE?!" And then had a spirited discussion on who was the bad guy, if any bad guy could be discerned at all. Maybe they were both bad?

Re: TFT Adventures!
I'm not a "Waiting for the hard copy" guy, though I prefer to use the books. I was anxiuos to start off with one of the adventures. I printed the counters for them and all, but we had it lined up in our campaign but never got to it until now, but at least we have the hard edition at the moment just as we were getting to it! Perfect timing!

Now to see if I can get some friends who like board games to try it and maybe get a group going. I have a setting all set to go. :)

Re: TFT Adventures!
I got the hardcover version. My only (minor) complaint with it is a printing / production thing: the first and last printed pages are stuck to the blank endpages for about half an inch out from the spine. As a result, you can't really open the book to those pages, without holding the adjacent endpage out of the way.

Re: TFT Adventures!
Yah, my first couple of pages are stuck out to about an inch from the spine.
Anyway, working my way through the contents, so far my favorite adventure is the one with the lich (I forget the name off hand...). It is a classic theme so I would of thought that I'd pass it over in favor of something weirder. But some of those classic themes are classics for a reason! It is engaging, has creepy monsters and NPCs, and presents some threats that players won't automatically know how to respond to. I'm really looking forward to running it, perhaps this weekend. |

I think I'm going to start opting for softcovers unless the hardcovers are really high-end (hand-sewn, etc.). These days, standard hardcovers are worse than standard softcovers, in my view.
