I'm not familiar with the stuff from GURPS Mecha, but I do know that Spaceships is (and was designed to be) a very simplistic system. The granularity necessary for the goodies and add-ons you're looking for might be below Spaceships level of resolution (which in general is below the default GURPS level of resolution). You might end up needing to pick-and-choose more complicated stuff from VDS and find a way to integrate it into the simplistic Spaceships design. Who knows, maybe after VDS comes out there will be a Pyramid article giving advice on how to do this (and/or some "VDS-to-Spaceships conversion" threads).
Of course, stuff about mechas does tend to show up around here with some regularity. There could be a market for a dedicated 4e GURPS Mecha (beyond what was covered in the new Spaceships and what will be covered in VDS).

GURPS Supers has some discussions of powered armor at the Iron Man scale. It should be usable for small mecha. If you want outsize mecha, just add SM +N and take the Size limitation on ST and HP.
