Default Vaesen, is it any good?

What it says on the tin. Vaesen looks beautiful, but looks can be deceiving.

Has anyone got this game?

Has anyone played it?

Please tell about it.

I've run it.

The book is beautiful, not overly artsy.

Mechanically, it's d6 dice pool, count successes on 6's; if you fail, you can "push" -- rerolling all non-6's, but taking a damage condition.

Setting is mid-late 19th C Sweden.

Intended play mode: Monster of the week, but usually not able to be brute-force-and-ignoranced. Base Building during downtime.

It does have combat rules, but they're not crunchy. They do follow the typical YZE motifs.

The monsters, or "Vaesen" are mostly immune to brute force. Some regeneraate, some ignore it, some simply can't be killed, and a few are more devastating if you kill them than they were before you arrive.

It has a sequence of play for missions familiar to monster of the week type shows: trigger/invite, prep and travel, snoop about and research, do the confrontation, and either do more research, or deall with it. Then back home and denouement.

I like it, but it was a poor fit for my players, even tho' they liked it too...

Thanks. I'll probably not get it to play. But it sounds like cool background ideas.

Check out the free league workshop on drivethurrpg.com for a lot of fan made support for many of the games under their banner. I have seen a lot of stuff for this game there for ideas extra and very good prices for stuff.
