Default In what ways in Kiai an attack?

I'm part of a pbp martial arts tournament game* and Kiai is both very useful but also a touch perplexing to use.

1) Does evaluate add to kiai skill? what about to its defense? we are using the countering feints and deceptive attacks rule from martial arts 100.
2) Is kiai an unarmed skill? I'm particularly asking to know if trained by a master lets you kiai and then attack traditionally at -3 for each.

We're trying to play extremely RAW here.

Trained by a Master halves the Rapid Strike penalty for all attacks, not just unarmed attacks.

You can rapid strike with one of your attacks being a Kiai. If you have TbaM, both attacks are at -3 instead of at -6.

Not quite. It says "all your unarmed combat skills and melee weapon skills". Guns doesn't seem to get this bonus, but I'm not sure about Kiai.

Interesting question.
I would say Evaluate does not add to Kiai but could to the resistance roll as your better prepared for it, including the timing.
Using the same logic I can see Deceptive Attack as throwing off your foes concentration and preparedness so would allow that too.
I would class it as an unarmed combat skill since it requires an Attack maneuver to use, not a Concentrate.

I really would like an official answer here though

Official answer:

Also: It's an attack, it's an attack without a weapon, it's an unarmed attack.
