sometimes thought hat can leasd to some fun shenagens, like in happy jacks they told the story of they had a prop newspaper and in the small corner was a small article about an old lady owning a bar for 75 years and they all imeditely thought that was suspicious. this wasn't suppose to be anything but the dm just said...okay then it turns otu this lady was a mage or something.

The problem with creating ambience and background turning into Chekhov's gun. "But what does it mean?"

I'd houserule that Chekov's gun is a Fine-quality AK-47 that requires a special key to open its nigh-unbreakable case.

Well that's not supposed to happen. [Rustling papers]

And shortly afterwards.

What was over there anyway? [More rustling papers]

"Alright! I finally get to use my copy of GURPS Kaiju!"

"No, Cthulupunk only happened to be at the top of the stack."

"Bunnies and Burrows is the next campaign. Totally unrelated to the sorceress who captured you. No you can't look at the character sheets I brought in."

"No, erotic art wasn't a misprint. I hope every one of you took at least one point in it."

"This isn't much first GURPS game, I just bought 'How to be a GURPS GM' because I am a completionist. Now, Halmaro the Red is launching a Caravan to Ein Arris..."

"Alright, next session will be after the end of GURPS."

As for me...

"He comes around the corner blasting an auto shotgun."

"No, those other two players have good qualities. I want to include them in the campaign."
