Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
Just so. Heroic PC distance travelled is not equal to average character distance travelled.

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
I've been thinking about giving Enhanced Move in horses the limitation (Costs FP 1/min). I think 1/sec would be a little too harsh. Any thoughts?

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
according to wikipedia they can only move at full speed which is about 25 mph for about 1 mile, so I think it sounds perfectly reasonable.

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
I think that's below the granularity of GURPS. Maybe you could buy Enhanced Move in smaller pieces.

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
I'm not horse-savvy enough to offer data, but horses (and deer, antelopes, etc) aren't built to run for long periods - just long enough to escape predators (who also aren't built to run for long periods, generally).

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
Back when I fox hunted, while horses were not running flat out that often, they did quite happilly move above a walk for a few hours in a stretch, including some jumping and some steep hills (note! Horses going up and down a steep hill can move below their base move, very slow!)
Also, horses like people can move at different speeds. You can easily have situations where horse A is trotting briskly and sees no need to canter or gallop, and horse B is galloping flat out, and are moving the same speed As a note, I personally find horseback riding to be much simpler and more user friendly than motorcycle riding and much less tiring . . . . horses have a definite self righting instinct which keeps them upright on trails and such where motorcycle riding becomes very interesting However, I can't keep a horse tucked in my carport and horses need stalls cleaned and such, so I currently have a motorcycle not a horse |

Re: Horses Aren't Medieval Motorcycles
I really need to get around to writing a horse supplement or Pyramid article for GURPS.

Yes. Yes, you do. Someone does, anyway.
