Munchkinism: Instant recovery from Unkillable 2
I was thinking about indestructibility in GURPS, and obviously the standard way is infinite DR which costs inifinity*5 points. But after some thought I might have devised a couple of ways of exploiting Unkillable 2. However, my ideas may just originate from a flawed understanding of the rules.
Disclaimer: this is definite munchkinism and I would never use these abilities in a game. Method number 1 (Assumes 10 HP character): DR 220 (Absorption (One trait, HP), +80%; Hardened 6, +120%) [3300] Regrowth? [40] Unkillable 2 [100] Any attack that penetrates DR provides enough points to fully heal the character up from -100 HP, and Unkillable 2 prevents the character from dying at that point. Method number 2 (HP is irrelevant): Altered Time Rate 11 (Only for healing when 'dead', -80%) [220] Regeneration (Extreme) [150] Regrowth [40] Unkillable 2 [100] Regeneration heals an amount equal to HP each second, with Unkillable 2 the character can be reduced to -10*HP, so 11 levels of altered time rate allow the character to heal instantly. Method number 3 (Assumes 10 HP character): Note: Really not sure how this works but I thought I'd throw it in here. DR 100 (Ablative, -80%) [100] Regeneration (Extreme) [150] Regrowth [40] Unkillable 2 [100] The amount that Regeneration heals scales with HP, and as DR (Ablative, -80%) heals like HP the total amount that Regeneration would heal every second would equal HP+DR (Ablative, -80%), and as this character has HP+DR=110 and HP 10 that would be enough to heal from -100 HP to full HP. I am working on the assumption that I've made mistakes, so could you review what I've written and tell me what those mistakes are. Thank you. |

I'm just questioning why you keep including Regrowth. It's not very munckiny to waste points like that.

Re: Munchkinism: Instant recovery from Unkillable 2
Wasn't sure if it was necessary. As each build involves unkillable I could probably replace it with No Visible Damage [1], but I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd throw it in there. The point is to try and reduce the cost from infinite to finite, the size of the finite cost is less important.

Well, since Unkillable 2 includes Regrowth, it's still a waste of points and space on your character sheet.

Oh, I hadn't seen that! Well that's good to know.

They are referring to one of 'reduced to indestructible skeleton' or 'any severed body parts will grow back' in Unkillable 2's description.
I wouldn't recommend thinking overly much about how both of them would ever apply however.

Your arms/legs can be severed long before you reach -10x HP. Thus, both apply just fine.

Very interesting points, and thank you for raising them, but I can sense the potential for this thread to go off topic, so I'll just drag it back to which, if any, of the original three methods would work.

Method 2 would be my preference.

I don't think Altered Time Rate will help you.
Very Fast Regeneration is based on seconds, not maneuvers. |
