Default Doors and Running Away

Last night I ran two demos and had two questions come up:

Once you move through a locked or secret door, does it turn into a regular door? That is, do you flip the link over to change the door type? Nothing about it in the rules, but the players made a good point about a door no longer being locked or hidden.

Second question is more of a clarification: can you Run Away through a hidden or locked door, assuming the room on the other side is explored?

Ever watch any of the Scooby-Doo cartoons where Scooby accidentally falls through a secret door, and Shaggy has to find the same secret door to be able to follow him, and then the others have to find the same secret door again to be able to follow Scooby and Shaggy?

It's the same deal here, I think - just because one person finds the door doesn't mean everybody else gets to know about it.

And there are plenty of real-world ways to build a door that will close and re-lock itself after somebody opens it ("spring hinges and a latch lock" comes to mind immediately), so leaving a locked door as a locked door is even more believable than leaving a secret door secret.

This one, I don't know...

No. First off, flipping the link wouldn't change it to a regular door -- it would be a passageway. Secondly, just because you were able to pick the lock or figure out where the door is doesn't mean the next munchkin will.

Yes. Any room next to your room that isn't separated by a wall is an adjacent room. You can run away to any adjacent room. So by definition, you can run away through locked and hidden doors. Fear is a great motivator.

AFAIK, they stay the same.

AFAIK, yes.

1. Your players were over thinking it. There are ways to change the Links during play, but in general things stay like you find them. Types of doors really represent the difficulty to use them, and they stay just as difficult no matter how many times they're used.

2. Yes, the only rule about which rooms you can run to is adjacency. A running munchkin will find a way through any kind of door.
