Re: Serendipity in a zombie apocalpyse
In the states, finding a gun might be easy, but in several European countries it is not. This is something worth considering. We don't know where this Apocalypse takes place.

Re: Serendipity in a zombie apocalpyse
The party finds a cache of canned goods; Serendipity Guy finds the can opener or a functional camping stove.
The party finds an arms locker; Serendipity Guy finds the keys. After an unlikely and embarrassing accident, Serendipity Guy discovers that the zombies are vulnerable to a particular substance. "Guys! The zombies can be killed with holy water(Brand X weed killer, Chanel No. 5, Spam, the blue stuff from portapotties, or kittens)! You gotta believe me!" After an unlikely and embarrassing accident, SG discovers that the zombies cannot detect someone who has been scented with a particular substance. "Douse myself with patchouli again? Bleah! I would rather just fight the damn zombies." |

What are some good, yet plausible, military supplies one might find in an urban environment? The penultimate example, is, of course, a tank, but surely are other suitable treasures.

Re: Serendipity in a zombie apocalpyse
Serendipity and Intuition. You find item X while scrounging and keep it because you had a 'feeling'. Later on item X turns out to be the key to the armored weapons locker in the basement of that house or the teddy bear that tells the stranger you meet that his little sister really is dead, or...
Of course there is the fun of if they botch their Intuition. They spend the entire campaign carrying around a fish bowl because they are convinced it is important. Nothing says you have to make it *obvious* that particular item out of all the ones you picked up is important. But it does let you realize you had it with you all along. Sounds a little like Scrounging for Gizmos, I admit. But it would work. |
