Twenty sided dice?
I've just noticed that the thief classes theft ability does not specify a particular dice to use and neither do the rules, (The rules state that the six sided dice is included with the game but there is no ruling on using it.), they just say to use "a die". So i was wondering if it's not being too much of a munchkin to use a twenty sided die for the theft ability?

Re: Twenty sided dice?
The game comes with a die, which implies, heavily, that you must use it whenever you're told to roll "a die," or "the die." Unless a card specifically tells you which die to use, you use a standard six-sided die with values from 1 to 6.

Re: Twenty sided dice?
That much i understand, the implications and assumptions are obvious, however there is nothing in the rules that state which die to use, and the point of being a munchkin is to be a bastard with the rules therefore using an alternative dice at appropriate moments seems rather logical.

MunchkinMan's answer is official and correct. We are not going to entertain further discussion of house rules in Munchkin 101.

Re: Twenty sided dice?
The point of Munchkin is to play the game by the rules, and let the cards let you act like a munchkin. Breaking the rules of the game is not logical, it's cheating, plain and simple. So: Use the six-sider that comes with the game, since it the die that is called out in the rules as coming with and being for the game, or be labelled a cheater. Those are the options.
We've covered this before: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=38409 Yes, it's an old thread, but the intent hasn't changed, nor does the professional opinion of all those responsible for giving out Munchkin rulings that if you roll anything other than a six-sided die when not told to use something else, you're being a blatant cheater. Obviously, if a translated version doesn't come with a die, the rules should tell you that you need to use a six-sided die. |
