Default Cheat! and Hireling

Can I use a Cheat card to use an item I can't legally carry? e.g. it's my 2nd Big item and I'm not a Dwarf.

Does the Hireling let me use Class- or Race-specific items? Even when the Hireling is not that Class or Race?

Yup. For more information, read MunchkinMan's excellent treatise on what Cheat! can and cannot do.

If you're talking about the Hireling from the original Munchkin set, then yes -- it's basically a Cheat! card with legs. (With the difference that you can take the Item back from the Hireling -- once you apply Cheat! to an Item, it's stuck there.)

If you're talking about the Class/Race-specific Hirelings from later sets, then they can do exactly what their cards say they can do.
