Elf + Tuba of Charm = Cheat?

Elves with equipped Tuba of Charmturn out to automatically run Away from almost any monster because they get +4 Bonus to Run Away (The lowest possible result is 1+1+3=5). The only way to prevent them from it is Chicken on a head. The lowest possible result is (1+1+3-1=4). Am I right?

Well, I'm not sure why you're implying that this is a "cheat." The math speaks for itself, and, well, it's saying that an Elf using a Tuba Of Charm has excellent chances of always getting away. Bear in mind, there are other ways, not just adding on penalties, to stop a player from Running Away, so don't lose all hope.

Could you please clarify what factors to runaway are cumulative? I was under the impression you don't get to add any of them. Is the Tuba the only one that adds to other totals? Or is it based purely on a card saying it doesn't stack?

Elves have a Racial +1 to Run Away. As an elf, and otherwise unhindered, you need to roll a 4, 5 or 6 to escape monsters.

The Tuba of Charm gives the user a +3 to Run Away. Rolling a 2-6 would equate to a successful Run Away attempt.

Combining the two Run Away modifiers would let the player get away, as long as he/she was unhindered by something else which negatively modifies his/her Run Away value.

I believe that unless a card specifically states that the modifier isn't stackable with other modifiers, then its effects can be combined

Race/Class-based factors typically don't stack because they say, "You are +1 to Run Away," not that you get a +1 bonus to Run Away, while Items do stack because they give you a +x bonus to your Run Away. It's a fine wording edge that I think we're thinking about doing away with. But maybe not. . .

Do you mean like in the case of being a half-breed elf-feline, the player would still only be "+1 to Run Away" instead of +2?

That is correct, an half breed elf feline would only have a +1 to run away because the bonus comes from the same general source.
