Cleric. Resurrection. All available uses.
Good afternoon.
The situation is: there is a Cleric, he has already fought and then the card "Go Up a Level" (GUAL) is used, but not for the main purpose, but according to alternative text. The alternative text reads: choose a class card from the doors discard and take it on your hand or put it on the table. Can the "Resurrection" ability be used to take the top card from the same discard instead of choosing a class card from the drop? Can this ability be applied at all for situations other than: - Replacement of the door when you open at the first phase ("1. Kick Open The Door"); - Treasure replacement after successful cobmat which took place with the another players's help? I don 't remember the card itself, if I remember the name, I 'll write here. But it's is in the set from 5 to 9. Studied a number of topics on this forum but found no concrete answer. Some authorities write that all cards from the drop are draw-up'able, accordingly they can be pulled by the cleric. Others believe that only two basic situations can be used. |

Resurrection can be used when you draw a card face-up from a draw pile.
Selecting a card from a discard pile is not drawing a card from a draw pile. |

In addition to what Brf said, if a card gives you specific instructions ("Take a Class card from the Door discard pile,") you can't use a generic Class ability to override that.

Re: Cleric. Resurrection. All available uses.
This brings up an interesting related question: Does the Cleric ability apply to ALL decks? Can I retrieve a discarded dungeon after playing a portal? Can I get back a Fairy Dust or Munchkinomicon Spell? All of these are decks, and provided you would draw face up from the deck, it seems a valid target,

Re: Cleric. Resurrection. All available uses.
Dungeons: No. These cards never go into your hand and so they aren't "drawn" in the sense meant by the Resurrection power. It's more like they are revealed.
Fairy Dust: No, because the Fairy Dust rules say that played FD cards are removed from the game. There's no discard pile to resurrect from. Munchkinomicon: No, because the rules say Spells are always drawn face down.
