Re: The 2013 e23 Releases and Speculation Thread
LOL. Yeah that'd be hilarious. Tomorrow we'll get proof that the GURPS pipeline clog might be clearing up. I'm not tossing out any more guesses until it does...because there isn't anything to guess at this point.

Re: The 2013 e23 Releases and Speculation Thread
So, first thing I did when I saw the book was tell a friend "First new GURPS product of the year!"
Then I told him what it was. We laughed at the concept of the book, and then he wondered what actually it covered. "Is it the Underdark or Journey to the Center of the Earth?" "Probably both," I replied, "It's GURPS." So, amused, I began to read off the TOC to him, while he commented on how weirdly specific yet surprisingly broad it was. As I continued to read, the smiles slipped from our faces and he began to read over my shoulder. "That... actually sounds really awesome," he said. Agreeing with him, I bought it. It's not that I intend to buy every GURPS product, but damn if SJGames down't know how to speak to geeks like him and me.

Re: The 2013 e23 Releases and Speculation Thread
I've had a few people not immediately "key onto" the concept behind this book, until I asked them, "Have you ever had a game in which exploring caves and tunnels didn't lead to some really cool adventure?" Without exception, their eyes immediately lit up as they became enlightened.
Fact is, underground exploration can feature into every genre from fantasy (e.g., dungeon crawling) to historical (e.g., pirate caves) to modern (e.g., spelunking action heroes) to futuristic (e.g., asteroid tunnels)! I'd say this is one of the most universally useful supplements we've put out in a while.

Re: The 2013 e23 Releases and Speculation Thread
I'm just happy we got a new release. Not the last for a while I hope...
Wow, Mr. Stoddard put in notes on earth-size giants in mythology. That's kind of...cool. Edit: Scanning Sense references the Vague limitation for GPR, but that isn't a applicable limitation on Scanning Sense is it?

Re: The 2013 e23 Releases and Speculation Thread
How exactly would that work? Treating it exactly like Detect's version would defeat the purpose of having Scanning Sense to begin with.

Yay! The pipeline is unclogged! Now I'm hoping we'll get the RPM book in another few weeks...
