Re: ADHD in Gurps?
That's true for nearly all medications for nearly all disorders.

And they usually have side effects, some of which are worse than the illness (for example, a lot of anti-depressants can cause suicidal ideation if given to the wrong people, such as giving an SSRI to someone whose depression is not caused by excessive serotonin uptake).

Re: ADHD in Gurps?
It does make write ups for realistic medications much more complicated.
Main disadvantage with mitigator that causes its own side effects... not to mention that many drugs cause horrible withdrawal effects often unrelated to either the base problem or side effects if tapered down too quickly.

Re: ADHD in Gurps?
Thanks to all for keeping this thread going. I was watching a video the other night that made me realize that because something has a empty space it becomes useful (overgeneralisation, but the analogy is longer). So, maybe, as some have suggested, the upside of ADD is it's negative point value (at least in GURPS terms), or lack that allows room for skills and abilities that would otherwise not exist within a person. Also on a side note, would any GM's allow someone to start a game with negative point values or is it usually unheard of?
