Default 2 players

Can Munchkin be played with only 2 players? The rules say 3 to 6 players...Are there any different/special rules for 2 players (or over 6)?
My husband refuses to play alone with me because he says it's not a 2-player game!! :)))

it's not really working well with two, but you can find some suggestions for a 2-player-experience in the house-rules section.

Munchkin's mechanisms favor situations where 2 (or more) players can group up against 1

No, you absolutely need 3 or more players.

And while you can play with more than 6 players, in my experience, it is a complete disaster.

Munchkin is for 3 to 6 players.

I have been in a couple of 7-player games that worked OK. It takes a commitment by all players to keep the game moving, and even then, you really need to have some expansions or multiple core sets to avoid burning through the decks too quickly.

I have never played a two-player game of Munchkin that was even slightly satisfying . . . and that includes the two-player rules I wrote myself. (We haven't published those. There is a good reason for that.)

Would you like to recommend 2-3 basic rules in order to make a 2-player game more interesting?

1) Find a third player.

If you want other ideas, please check out the House Rules thread in the main Munchkin forum. This forum is for the Munchkin rules as written, which are not intended for only two players.
