Default (IW) - Meanest. Cliffhanger. Ever.

So, our merry team of fearless D-Patrol agents got a new mission. We just had to escort a group of eggheads, er, scientiists to a recently discovered echo.
Easy job, right?
That echo is currently in june of 1989, when a few interesting things happen - Khomeni just had died, the communist bloc is limping toward its final end, Salman Rushdie has to hide, Seinfeld starts on air.
Well, our team is located to the Los Angeles region, where nothing special happened. We just have to stay there for two weeks, read local newspapers, watch TV and not try to kill our own grandfathers.
Piece of cake, right?
So, when our transporter arrives, the landing is a little bit rough. The pilot mumbles something about "unusual levels of oz-particles", but drops us off and vanishes. One of the scientists detects with his sensors a source of particels somewhere in the city.
A few hours later, our group has aquired local cars and a house. After setting up camp, the scientists starts his sensors again and can pinpoint the source of the oz particles. Somewhere near Hollywood Boulevard.
A team drives up there and starts to look around. Nothing strange, it seems. A deli, a chineses laundry, a comic shop....
The window of the comic shop shows the latest issues. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Watchmen, Guardians of the Infinite Worlds....
Whait, what?
Yep. There is comic book that shows on its cover a scene from one of our last adventures, and the hero on it has strong resemblence to one of our team members. Author and artist of the comic book is a certain Kenneth Hite.

And that was the moment when our GM smiled and said: "Good moment for a break. See you in two weeks, folks."

To be continued. I hope.

I keep expecting to hear/read something like that from someone discussing an IW game. Seriously, it's something that I'd think would occur to more GMs.

Evil cliffhanger, though.
