Kodiak and Butcher seem to fit together. The "Truck" aesthetic?

Those awesome pieces were by Brandon Moore. My stuff was WAY simpler, drawn on a whiteboard, and the sculptor was free to add greebles all over them as they saw fit.

Here are Avalanche and Kodiak, for example. The red ink helped me indicate to the sculptor where to place specific weapons from the card art. The purple indicates windows. Also note the similar wheel hubs in the drawings, which the sculptor turned into unique designs.

@HeatDeath
They were never intentionally slotted into a "truck" category, as trucks are not a part of this version...but several sculpts were intended to appeal to truck/van/wagon fans. Also, with so many minis, I wanted diverse profiles and footprints to give them each some personality and narrative significance, as we always wanted players to recount games by telling a story of what happened.

It’s really neat to see these!

But nowadays does the sculptor ever create a physical model? Or is it strictly CAD/CAM/CNC and the first physical object the milled (but inverse) mold? If the sculptor is carving a model, what is the medium?

I am somewhat familiar with how lead figures were prototyped back in the day. I just don’t see how those traditional methods could be sufficient for these miniatures!

We work with CAD files almost exclusively these days, but your question makes me ponder whether 3D printing filament can be considered a sculpting medium. I'm inclined to say yes...

It makes me happy to know that a physical model remains a step in the manufacturing process before the first casting.

Also, I should admit sooner than latter, I am glad to be painting at this scale rather than H0.

Tell us more about how much of your inspiration came from the classic CW cars (like the Joseph Special mini) and where's my Piranha

@PresidentTwoeagles
Some of them (about a third) were obviously based on older cars. Scarab was a combination of three different classic designs. And then I went off-script to bring new ones into the mix.

As far as Piranha goes, I'm not giving you three gunners, you maniac! ;-)

I like that we have four cars indentified for the AI faction. Can we do that three or four more times? Here is what I have so far:

Wastelands (OR) Faction:
  1. Butcher
  2. Goblin
  3. Pillbug (1)
  4. Brimstone? (3)
  5. ?
Retro 50’s Faction: (needs a better name)
  1. Dragon?
  2. Jackrabbit? (grill, super charger, and muffler are anachronistic, but aesthetically does not quite feel a match for me)
  3. Hades (1)
  4. Aristocrat (3)
  5. Conestoga (4)
  6. ?
There are probably two “sports car” groupings, but I am having difficulty cleanly sorting them.

I hadn't seen those before! Those are great! I love that black and white look on them too!
