Power question
How do I model 'Read any language'? Sort of like the DnD spell.
Thanks |

Not RAW - Unusual Background: Xeno-Omnilingual (Written Only, *1/2) [40] Or - Not RAW - Language (Written) (Native) (Wildcard Power!, *4) [12] There is also a few "Modular Ability"-based implementations floating around on the forums. Depending on how permissive the GM is. |

Re: Power question
Personally, my favorite build uses Modular Abilities and Language Talent. There are many options though.

Re: Power question
Cosmic Modular ability (Languages only) works out to ~30 points- it takes a second to activate.
Super-memorization (languages only; uses other languages as a source) is ~15 points, and is interesting because you have to spend minutes 'learning' the language rather then 'click, done'. You can also put 'takes extra time' on this; downside is that they languages are not 'permanantly' learned (once you 'learn' a new language you'll have to 'relearn' an old one if you have to switch back). |

Re: Power question
I'm with Kuroshima: Modular Abilities. Xeno-Omnilingual doesn't cover everything. Especially languages you couldn't have a way of already knowing. Modular Abilities gets around that.

Re: Power question
Yes it looks like modular ability is the way to go. 30-40 points is just a bit much for a simple spell.
Thanks everyone. |

It's only a low level effect in D&D because you can't kill things with it :)

Re: Power question
That would be true of the goal of the game was to have a cushy job and live well. But that's just not the goal in most RPGs. This power is for a character in a fairly combat orientated group. 40 points out of a total of 200 is just to much to pay in that particular case.
