Default ROF and pushing the KoM into triple-digits?

Lets say a Monster was at a total of 77 after a plethora of enhancers.

Someone plays Mate.

This group of Monsters is at a combined level of 154.

Since my KOM doesn't go higher than 99, could I still play Reversal of Fortune to make the level 451? The card text says "You may force the dials of any Kill-O-Meter to be read backwards."

In this scenario does the KoM max out at 99 or would I use the true value of the Monster group for ROF?

As this is such an outlier of a case, I am sure you are still able to play your Reversal of Fortune card to make a Monster with Mate be now at 451, and I weep for the person you are putting that combat upon.

Is it even necesary? Was your fellow Munchkin at a combat strength above 154? I must be playing wrong.

It was necessary in that he stopped me from winning when I was at level 9.

I did what I had to do to express my anger.

Sorry, but i believe this has been ruled on before. you can only reverse what is actually shown on the dials of the Kill-o-Meter, therefore, once it goes over 100, the reversal of fortune scroll is useless... because you can no longer display the true combat strength on the dials.

I am 99.999% certain this is correct, but an MIB or a moderator, please, feel free to use your mighty powers to smite me.

I'm 100% sure it has come up, and after some rather simple searching, I'm 100% sure that a final official ruling was never given, and, in fact, I said that in a pinch, I'd go with 011 if the current combat strength was 110, but I wasn't looking at the card at the time.

The card says you can force the dials to be read backwards, so there's two possible answers, depending on how pedantic one wants to be: 154 becomes 451, or 154 becomes 145.

Depending on which game is being played, and if the game is Epic, I can see this happening occasionally. Hopefully, I'll do a better job of calling this to Andrew's attention when he gets home, assuming a vigorous Braintrust discussion doesn't come up with an answer without him.

Heh. I think I just out-munchkined everybody here...and no, I'm not saying. Erik can corroborate if he so chooses. :)
