Extra Effort Movement - Giant Step
hi,
looking at the Extra Effort Option "Giant Step" from Martial Arts, I noticed - if I got that right - that it's restricted to Attack and Defensive Attack, isn't it? I wonder if it would be balanced (and not unrealistic) to allow the players paying 1 FP to get one extra yard (field) of movement in their current turn, also when taking other maneuvers like Move or Move&Attack-Maneuver...? What do you think? At the moment I don't really see why there would be much difference if someone pays 1 FP, makes a step, attacks and then steps again in comparison to someone who pays 1 FP, goes for Move&Attack and moves 1 step further. Anyway I wouldn't allow that option to be used more than once in a turn. edit: Sorry, I accidentally created this thread twice but maybe I can delete the other one somehow...? Re: Extra Effort Movement - Giant Step
I allow extra one move on extra effort in any action, but max 1/turn.
Thus you can do an extra step for maneuvers with a step or no move, or one extra movement for actions with move. The extra step also works for situations like retreating dodge/parry. I have found that it adds a usefull option for both players and enemies. |

I've also been allowing it. It's much harsher than Sprinting is, as far as FP spent is concerned, so I'm not too stressed over it.

Re: Extra Effort Movement - Giant Step
I never really thought of it, but yeah, don't see any problem with it.
Only thing is that I would not allow someone to both spend FP on a Heroic Charge and on +1 Move. Not because it's unbalanced as such, but because I really like the simple "only one type of Extra Effort per action"-rule. |
