It is definately a world that diverged some time in the 1930s and had a super soldier arms race.

At least one german, one British, several Soviet super soldier programs are mentioned. Grendel, Nephilim, Warspawn, Golf's and who ever is after neon punch makes at least 5 American programs. Add to that at least one private company doing research on supers and two government agencies competing to manage supers.

Yesterday can see the past. Well, four different pasts, actually. If he concentrates, he can see what happened in the exact spot where he is standing 5 minutes ago, 13 months ago, 155 years ago, and an undetermined point in the past that is probably some time during the Permian era.

Ernesto is a tall, handsome man in his mid-thirties. He is very rich, making his money mostly from service as an expert witness in criminal trials. He wears bespoke suits somewhat casually with a bit of jewelry, and is seldom without his entourage of personal assistants. He is often seen in the company of celebrities and travels the country (and the world) in a well-appointed private jet. A second aircraft holds his immaculate DeLorean DMC-12.

Yesterday's reputation took a bit of a hit five years ago when his testimony was instrumental in acquitting a senior Oracle executive charged with five counts of statutory rape. A lot of the evidence pointed the other way that time, and some people are convinced Yesterday perjured himself.

Yesterday is a Rutherford alumnus and a major donor to the school, and as such is sometimes seen with Atonement, the principal.

Zero

Everyone feels "invisible" from time to time, as if no one around is paying any attention whatsoever to their presence. In the case of Dwayne Jefferson, this is sometimes literally true. Dwayne's power only manifested a few years ago; he has the ability to cause others to completely fail to notice his presence, and to forget he was there if he activates it near them. This came in handy at first, as schoolyard bullies about to attack him would suddenly forget their intentions, but over the years Dwayne found that he had no idea how to control this power. And it's downright disconcerting the first time your parents forget your existence - during dinner!

Atonement was called in by his superiors when a local junior high reported persistent problems with their student counts; at first they assumed he'd find a teleporter, until he happened across Dwayne in the hall. Fortunately, Atonement has spent years learning to see what is actually there as opposed to what he expects to see, so he was able to both spot the boy and detect his power. A quick exchange of transfer paperwork later, and Dwayne was a student at Rutherford.

His shy nature, coupled with the fact that he's still learning to control his ability, means that he's still a surprise to most of the students and staff, although for some reason Warspawn is always aware of his presence.

Power: He can make people ignore and forget his presence, so much that they make excuses for any visible signs (doors open and close "because the building is settling", file folders move "because I forgot I put it over there", and so forth). This is not fully under conscious control yet; when he becomes nervous or frightened, it kicks in automatically.

Personality: Shy and reserved, he's given himself the nickname "Zero" because he believes he goes unnoticed only because he's not really worthy of notice in the first place. Possible Chronic Depressive Disorder.

A little late but here is my entry for Z

Zeb

The school janitor Zeb looks to be a hard worn sixty and is almost completely bald except for what could only be called an "optimistic" comb over. Baggy overalls and ragged tennis shoes complete the image. Seldom seen without his mop or broom Zeb heads out side for a quiet smoke at least once every half hour.

Zebulathor is a master of the magical and martial arts and is a hint under three hundred years old. His last apprentice went on to name him self Witchlord and cause all kinds of strife. Looking for a new protege Zeb came to Rutherford, Atonement is not quite sure why he hired Zeb and finds his mind focusing on other things when he tries to think about it. Due to all the unusual senses possessed by the staff and students Zeb has had to forgo his usual array of glamours and illusion spells while at Rutherford and finds the change quite refreshing.

The reason Zeb goes out for a smoke every half hour or so is a side effect of a fire breathing technique that he has not fully mastered, while he can breath fire when he wants to he can't completely put it out and after a half hour he has to expel the built up smoke. Happily observing from the back ground he has his eye on Kim Cavanaugh (Killer)as a possible apprentice, the tangle of magic surrounding the boy seems like an interesting enough challenge to unravel anyway. Zeb has already started talking to Edgar Simmons (polaris) with an eye to training him in the Martial arts, Zeb feels that Edgar's ability properly trained and developed will allow Edgar to have complete instinctual knowledge of his body position thus allowing a for greater acrobatic ability than normal practitioners.

Supers generally end up with a bunch of crazy people. Here they have the option to be sympathetic and turn out ok instead of as a supervillian.
