While they grudgingly respect voluntary medical use of memetic programming, they view punitive use of the technology to be an unconscionable usurpation of free will. Fines and imprisonment are typical punishments, with capital punishment reserved for corruption and murder. Innocence or guilt is determined by a panel of judges. Prosecutors and the defense write sentencing proposals for the convict, which are then selected by the panel by a majority vote based on the mitigating and aggravating factors. The legislative branch has the power to set sentencing limits, but not to set mandatory minimum sentences as part of the 44th Republic's separation of powers scheme. Quote:
Hyperspace is almost always too distorted to allow reliable FTL radio communication beyond about 10 AU. Interstellar relay systems are prohibitively expensive due to the constantly shifting geometry of hyperspace and a minimum requirement of ~2063 relays per parsec. Therefore, the fastest means of sending messages is to send a ship (~1 parsec/day). Question 63 How do the various nations handle the logistics of sending messages and transferring information? Re: [GAME] Assemble a Space Station!
Answer 20, a) [STN] [Name 5]
Describe 5 different starships that are currently docked. (d6: Sentences for each answer a)2 b)5 c)6 d)3 e)2 ) The Utunui is an artifact ship of unknown origin that was confiscated by undercover QED operatives. It was formerly under the control of a group of anti-isolationist rebels who had managed to obtain control of about 80% of the ship's comparatively (to the setting average) more advanced funtions and jury rig their own shoe string systems to make up the difference.

Answer 20, b) [STN] [Name 5]
Describe 5 different starships that are currently docked. (d6: Sentences for each answer a)2 b)5 c)6 d)3 e)2 ) The F'rr is a massive V'tt battleship (SM+14) that docked a month ago and does not seem to be in a particular hurry to leave. It is paying its docking fees with V'tt silk, which is 10% graphene by mass, making it one of the strongest materials in the Universe and the strongest biological material known to Humanity (it is worth $100,000 per gram in Human space). They have been hiring every female prostitute in the station, for purposes unknown to them, though they are paid a gram of V'tt silk each night. They do not remember much about their nights with the V'tt, just sensations of comfort, warmth, and unending ecstasy. A few female agents who posed as female prostitutes have reported similar experiences. Question 69 (?) What are the V'tt doing with the human women who they hire (5 sentences)? |

Re: [GAME] Assemble a Space Station!
I'm not sure the setting needs an alien race that keeps sex slaves and roofies prostitutes for experimentation, thanks.

Re: [GAME] Assemble a Space Station!
I agree. And the answer seems a bit unrelated to the question: "Describe a ship".

Re: [GAME] Assemble a Space Station!
Answer 59 [STN]- Clothing Trend
What's really hot now is hyperspace EVO gear, such as anti-X-ray visors or half-ablated thermal oversuits- the chunkier and more dinged up, the better. Question 70 [STN][Name 5]- Other Trends What are 5 other non-clothing trends in New Hong Kong, in food, media, luxury goods, rec activities, etc. (d6: 6 sentences each. Wow, generous!) Question 71 [STN] - Station AI A 2-parter! a) What is the station's ancient archaeo-compu-linguistics research mainframe like to deal with? (NB: It's between somewhat more than 162 and somewhere less than 400 years old.) (d6: 6 sentences) b) Why is it still in control of the station's Seneclex tech? (d6: 3 sentences)

A68 Most governments and very large organizations have some kind of private postal service. Computer technology is sufficiently limited that many cryptographic schemes are still secure for private messages, thought top secret information is encrypted by one-time-pad. The high security of information means that even freelance contractors can be trusted with sensitive messages, making the only concern whether they actually deliver it or not. A18b Unimportant messages of the Spinward Trade Alliance and environs are served by the Intergalactic Computer Mail Network (the name is aspirational). Affiliated ships act like packets on the internets of old, downloading data from affiliated stations and uploading on arrival. Quote:

The ancient ACL mainframe was installed by the Heaven's Tribes after their invasion of Pascal's Wager. Heaven's Tribes sought an interface with the old overseeing AI of the station, but they didn't have the personnel to assign any scientists to investigate the AI, so they brought in a computer, and planned to come back in a hundred years or so. That didn't happen. A71B When the V'tt came to wipe out the Pentyches (for their association with the Heaven's Tribes), the ACL begged Seneclex AI for access to weapons and some other systems. The Seneclex AI gave the ACL access to weapons, but tricked the ACL into destroying it in the process. So the ACL was left with few systems beyond very large guns. A71A The ACL mainframe was originally built with a remarkably human personality. Hundreds of years of self-improvement has made it more intelligent and emotional. Sure, its lost some of its enthusiasm and joyful curiousity, but understands more of human society that ever. While it still prefers direct barter for the limited services it can provide; it now has learned that others seek information too, and it's easy to share. It has recently made an agreement with Hudson-Paragon Research to share access to the nanofactory in exchange for materials and capital. Question 72 [AI] What does the AI call itself? 2 Sentences |

Question 72 [AI]
What does the AI call itself? 2 Sentences "Youpy", this is the result of an early conversation with an intellectually minded cleaner. The AI was compared to a natural philosopher, but being a construct the term "Unnatural Philosopher" was used. Question 73a [AI] Does U.P./Youpy operate any robotic/android/remote shells or bodies? (2 sentence limit) Question 73b [AI] If they exist are these run remotely(and locally) or with independent consciousness'? (4 sentence limit)
