I enjoyed the day, got to meet people, and wish we could make this event bigger and bring more retailers.

You should have fan day sometime. Call it SJCon. Lots of Munchkin, some Ogre, some GURPS and TFT, some Illuminati and other games. :)

I had considered the same comment.

The Ogre Designer Edition launch party (was that 2013?) felt a bit like such a convention.

Of course, SJ Games' presence at existing conventions is a sort of substitute.

I'm actually betting on a resurgence of participation in SJ events at conventions with the coming releases of The Fantasy Trip and eventually Car Wars 6th Edition.

I've been in the habit of attending OwlCon annually in Houston where SJ Games is represented, but I haven't been as enthusiastic about giving up a gaming slot just to play the abundance of their lighter fare of games.

One interesting thing to note is the reception of GURPS at OwlCon. Fourth Edition hasn't been met with many offerings, an occasional session on various years.

When I started attending OwlCon in 2002 and then 2003 many different games of GURPS Third Edition were hosted. For whatever reason, that seemed to start waning over the years. I don't know if it was related to the release of Fourth Edition in 2004 or simply due to the timing of some very enthusiastic GMs being prevalent in the years when I first started attending. (I don't have perspective on years before 2002 to gain further insight.)

I finally got around to running an RPG, namely Dungeon Fantasy (box set), at OwlCon back in February of this year. I'm still planning on adding a report here sometime. Preview: I found it difficult to get very far into the depth of GURPS rules and mechanics in the four hour time slot. It came out much more as a generic RPG experience.

The bottom line is that I'm anticipating the reaction to SJ's return to releasing more games that inspire at least a medium level of sustained involvement with the themes.

NO DON'T... uh, I mean, that would be silly, what a waste of time.
