Actually, if you just want to extract the front/back as an image file, GIMP works better than Inkscape in my experience. It has a very solid PDF renderer and I trust it to display fonts the way a PDF viewer would. With Inkscape, I can never ever get it to correctly import fonts from the PDF (neither "as text" nor "as paths").

Simply open the PDF in Gimp, select the first and last page in the import dialog and the correct resolution (300dpi will likely be good enough for printing purposes) and then immediately export those two images to PNG again.
