Default GURPS - Your Licensed Product Wishlist

If you could decide such things, of course, what would your personal wishlist be? Try & keep it short & sweet, just 1-3 items - and nothing too popular so that SJG might actually be able to look into licensing the thing (because you never know...)
  • Canon Space - based upon Glen Cook's The Dragon Never Sleeps. Simply put, this is one of my favorite Space Opera novels by one of my favorite authors.
  • Anything by Sean Russell. His low-powered fantasy settings are ideal for GURPS. My favorite works by him are the Moontide and Magic Rise duology and the Initiate Brother duology.
  • Any of Joe R. Landsdale's Weird-West novels for GURPS.

I'd like to see some games with klunky RPG rules licensed to GURPS.

1. BattleTech (MechWarrior 2nd Edition was a good system, but all the rest are wa-aa-aa-ay to kludgy/klunky)
2. Heavy Gear (Great world, needs a good RPG. The D20 version was cringeworthy)
3. Fringeworthy

Unfortunately, there's already a new Battletech (FYI)...

With GURPS Classic Warehouse 23 around (not to be confused with SJG storefront) I have to ask why?

As I have said before Licensed games are a bit of a gamble as they cost and the uptick in sales may not justify the cost of the license.

Never mind that SGJ has had better luck with their generic stuff being in keeping with their book format then their licenses works though they got much better with 4e.

For example Blood Types comes off far better then GURPS Vampire the Masquerade and GURPS Shapeshifters is far more diverse then GURPS Werewolf the apocalypse.

  • Century City. A book that looks like the cross between Social Engineering: Courtroom Drama and Transhuman Space: the Mid-Century, with both new rules/crunch and lore/fluff.
  • Dishonoured, as it has odd powers that should fit with GURPS, and seems like a good playground for divergent TL gear lists.

Heavy Gear would be cool.

Personally, I would leap at a GURPS Front Mission book.

  • Larry Niven's Known Space: Heck, Chaosium did most of the heavy work in their stand-alone BRP game back in the late '80s.

  • Naomi Novik's Temeraire series, to show how well GURPS handles realistic / alt-historical settings with magic and other mystical addenda.

  • David Brin's Uplift series, updated from the third-edition book and expanded with his most recent material.

  • Girl Genius — which might yet actually happen!
