Default Playing cards that have no effect

Is it OK to play cards that have no effect, merely to get rid of the cards?

In general, they are curses such as 'Lose your headgear' (played on a player with no headgear).

It depends on the card, but in that specific example, yes, you can.

Curses are one of the only type of cards you can play for no effect, though. Most other card types are forbidden if you cannot follow the instructions on them (so you can't play a Go Up a Level card on a Level 9 player).

Can use curses that way, especially useful if you have the munchkinomicon booster pack.

I can't see how it's especially useful. The curse actually has to affect your target for you to receive the Munchkinomicon. Here's the clause from the rules:

Hmm, I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the wording of successful. Always thought that you're affected by a curse even if you don't meet the criteria, seeing as you are still hit by the curse.
I can see what you mean though, and will adjust it accordingly when playing next time.

You do see what I meant though, if not you wouldn't have corrected me.

Edit: Sorry if it wasn't clear, I'm agreeing with you after I checked my booster pack and I'm not trying to argue. But I rather post here and be wrong and corrected, than not and never learn what we are doing wrong in my group. So thanks for that anyway, now there will be less swapping the munchkinomicon around I think as we used it that way a lot last time.

Got it. I seem to be thinking of another game where spells needed to be cast with an effect, otherwise they were not able to be cast.
Many thanks for the replies.
