Default Battle Aura/Emanation [Martial Arts/Powers]

In many genres, exceptionally powerful characters produce auras or emanations that impact the local environment during combat. I was curious how you would represent such emanations? Here is one of my ideas:

Battle Aura: Crushing Attack 1d/level (Aura, +80%; Double Knockback, +20%; No Blunt Trauma, -20%; No Wounding, -50%; Melee, C, -30%; Reflexive, +40%) [7/level]. Notes: The basic battle aura of a powered fighter.

I'd go with an Emanation build for most Anime where as thy power up the rocks start floating and the ground breaks.
Also Why Reflexive on Aura? Does it turn itself on automatically? Thats not the ones I see.

Emanation for sure.
Doesn't have to last that long, it's usually on as a display of power, or during release of power, and not for the whole fight, but it's definitely an AoE effect radiating from the user, so emanation works best.

So that the character can turn it on during their opponent's turn (representing being triggered by anger, fear, pain, etc.). You can remove it and reduce the cost to 5 CP/level if you like.

Emanations are doable. Crushing Attack 1d/level (Area Effect 1, 2 yards, +50%; Double Knockback, +20%; Emanation, -20%; Reflexive, +40%; No Blunt Trauma, -20%; No Wounding, -50%) [6/level] would represent a small emanation. Larger Emanations will be more expensive though, +5 CP/level per quadrupling of area.

This looks either too weak to be effective or destructive in a pointless way. It would generally push opponents to fight at at a range too, which isn't usually what a powerful fighter wants.

I'd say this is more like a poltergeist effect than a knock back aura. I'd suggest using TK instead of Innate Attack.

TK would end up being more expensive for the same effect. For example, Crushing Attack 4d (Area Effect 4, 16 yards, +200%; Double Knockback, +20%; Emanation, -20%; No Blunt Trauma, -20%; No Signature, Mundane, +25%; No Wounding, -50%; Selective Area, +20%; Unconscious Only, -20%; Uncontrollable, -30%; Variable, +5%) [46] would probably be the equivalent of TK 20 (Area Effect 4, 16 yards, +200%; Emanation, -20%; Repulsion Only, -60%; Selective Area, +20%; Unconscious Only, -20%; Uncontrollable, -30%) [95].

First off, the effect in anime I see isn't "everything around me gets pushed back." It's items floating vertically, stuff cracking in place, and so on to emphasis how bad ass someone is.

Second, ST 20 isn't the equivalent of an avg 28 points of knock back.

Third, you wouldn't have to buy in that fashion and I would reject the IA build.

-You can't choose how to use an unconscious uncontrollable ability, so what's Selective and Variable supposed to do? What's mundane about objects getting pushed away from you? If only hits some in your area you should use Bombardment instead.

- *I* wouldn't accept NBT and No Wounding together, since No Wounding means you can't be hurt anyway regardless of if you're wearing armor.

"The attack inflicts basic damage, and may cause knockback and blunt trauma, but its penetrating damage has no wounding effect (HP or FP loss)." -B111

NBT and NW are absolutely compatible, and necessary if you want an attack to do zero damage at all.

I put the *I* in emphasis for that reason. My opinion hasn't changed - it doesn't make sense that you'd take damage from an attack that cannot wound you.

You could also consider it a 0 point feature for the specific campaign. Or it could be a nuisance effect on the highest levels of a variable power.
The point is, most of the time it's quite irrelevant besides showing off one's power.
