Munchkin Level Counter

Hey all.

I recently got into Munchkin and have purchased a bunch of addons, including the game changers pack.

Within this pack, 2 level counters are included from fairy dust and munchkinomicon. They are to round counters with a dial that spins from 1 to 9.

At first i thought they were used to somehow attribute to those two addons, but they are not mentioned at all in the rule sheet....

Are they just used to show what your items you have a worth at a glance? This makes no sense to me as it only goes to 9 or is just to show what level room you are in for those that dont have a board with that information....

Just want to make sure im not missing anything i should be doing with these.

They're used to show player level if you don't have a gameboard (or the phone app, dice, etc.).

Also, for most of the level counters of that type, if you are playing with the matching set for the level counter you are using, you start at level 2. I recall asking whether this applied to these level counters if you are using Fairy Dust or Munchkinomicon, and thought I recalled someone official saying that seemed like a good idea, but I don't know if that comment was supposed to be official endorsement of that as a rule for those counters, or just unofficial approval of that as an idea for a house rule...

The Level Counters included, do they benefit from the same rule as the rest of the Level Counters? If you have a Fairy Dust Level Counter, and the game you are playing includes Fairy Dust, does that mean you start at Level 2? If so, that would be kind of neat, IMHO.

They should also go from 1 to 10 (as all of these counters do), not 1 to 9.
