Hovercraft were supposed to be the future too. I remember several sci fi stories were no one had repaired the highways in decades because as long as you kept them mowed it simply wasn't important to hovercraft. I don't think that was fully accurate.

Back to the original topic, I think an equivalent of GURPS (3e) Modern Firepower focusing on adventure-relevant, 2000-2020 vintage technology would be a great PDF for Warehouse 23. I think there is one like that for computers. Tech levels are at best a rough tool built on two assumptions which no historian of technology believes ("one path" and "continual progress": both versions of Low Tech patch the basic idea to cover things like the differences between European, Chinese, and Mesoamerican technology, but they had to patch it). If you want details, you pretty quickly move to focus on more specific things.

That's a hovercar, not an aircar. I assume Jetsons, not Star Wars, when thinking about aircar.
